Fundraising Frequently Asked Questions:

What are my donations used for?

The first $350 that you fundraise goes to support the organizations that we work with on the ground and Justifi's ongoing tikkun olam efforts. If you commit to raise more, this money will go to cover your program fee. You will receive prior to the trip information about the specific organizations that we're working with on your program. Most are focused on serving victims and survivors of abuse or projects that keep at-risk children safe in school and away from trafficking or abusive situations.

Can I fundraise towards the cost of my airfare, too?

Unfortunately, no, airfare and incidental expenses on the program cannot be fundraised for through Justifi, because of non-profit tax laws. However, if you need financial support towards your airfare, we encourage you to use a separate tool, http://fundrazr.com/, which would allow you to fundraise direct to a personal account for any purpose, including airfare and incidentals.

Do I HAVE to fundraise? I'd rather just pay...

We strongly encourage participants to fundraise AT LEAST the $350 that supports our projects in Thailand. It's not so hard and helps participants feel more connected to the work that we do on the ground. However, when you register for the trip, you choose your program cost & fundraising choice. There are options to fundraise up to $700 or as little as $0, with you paying the difference.

When is Fundraising Due?

2 weeks before the program, we'll look at your total fundraised. If your fundraised amount is less than the amount you committed to, we'll send you an invoice for the difference, payable up until one-week before the program start date.

Are donations tax deductible?

Unfortunately, no, donations are not tax-deductible. In the past, this has not been a problem, because most participants receive many donations from numerous small donors who give out of support and are less interested in the tax-rebate. If you have larger donors, please contact us directly at Jamie@justifi.org and we can arrange an alternative payment method for large donors.

What if I raise more than my fundraising commitment?

Excess funds will be used to support Justifi and Justifi's sponsored projects. Unfortunately, we cannot use this money to subsidize your airfare, program cost, or other expenses.
